‍Study of energy utilisation of hospital waste in Chisinau

In cooperation with Holistic Solutions, Ltd., a techno-economic assessment of an environmentally friendly thermal treatment of hospital waste at the Mother and Child Center Hospital in Chisinau with a capacity of up to 1000 t/year was developed. The proposed solution included the use of energy from the treated waste for heating of hot water, sterilization, laundry, or for the production of electricity or cooling. The original system of hazardous hospital waste management in Moldova polluted the air, soil and groundwater supplies with toxic and infectious substances and was not energy efficient.
