Efficient use of waste from wastewater treatment plants - integration of energy and material recovery of sewage sludge

The aim of the project is to design and optimise a technology that will exploit the energy and material potential of sewage sludge according to the requirements of current and planned legislative changes with regard to the recycling of phosphorus as a critical commodity. The project focuses on an innovative approach of integrating primary thermal treatment of sludge with secondary ash treatment. The project will result in an experimentally verified technology protected by a utility model, applicable on an industrial scale.
